Natural Resources

UVLSRPC works with municipalities and private entities to inventory, assess, and plan for the management of natural resources based on the goals of the community. Common issues include water species conservation, land protection, and regulatory policy, and Natural Resource Projects aim to promote sustainable land use practices and raise public awareness around protection of valuable resources.

Examples of Natural Resource projects include Natural Resources Inventories, Watershed Assessments and Plans, Groundwater Protection Ordinances, Source Water Protection Plans, Low Impact Development techniques for stormwater, and stream and wildlife data collection at culverts.

Energy

UVLSRPC helps to assist municipalities with developing long-range policies to guide the future of a local and regional energy system using integrated approaches that consider both the provision of energy supplies and the role of energy efficiency in reducing demand. The commission assists municipalities with Energy Master Plans and provides technical assistance with data gathering, prioritizing, networking, and access to funds and grants to implement energy projects and studies.

Infrastructure

UVLSRPC aids municipalities in a variety of infrastructure related projects, such as planning for maintenance of roadways, public water systems, and drainage systems. Examples include surveys of roadway conditions and analysis of culvert performance and condition at stream crossings.
